PJ Dave roses

Overview
PJ Dave Flowers is part of the PJ Dave group of flower companies. We were asked to photograph its roses for production records and quality control.
The challenge
Quality control photography has to be accurate rather than flattering. Every image needed true colour, consistent framing and enough detail to judge each bloom, and the results had to be comparable from one batch to the next.
Our approach
We built a simple, repeatable set-up: a neutral background, fixed lighting and a fixed camera position, so every rose is shot under the same conditions. A colour reference card was photographed at the start of each session and used to calibrate every image. Each variety was shot from the same angles, showing the head, stem and foliage, with a scale reference in frame where size mattered. For production records we also documented the roses at key stages, giving the team a visual history of each crop. Files were named and organised by variety and date, so the team can find and compare images quickly.
