Events at Novotel

Overview

Novotel Nairobi Westlands is part of the international Novotel hotel brand. The hotel asked us to film and photograph events hosted there, so it could show future organisers its spaces in use.

The challenge

Events happen once, in real time, with no second take. We had to capture the room, the people and the key moments as they unfolded, without getting in the way of guests or organisers. Light in event spaces also shifts as the room fills and the programme moves on.

Our approach

Before each event we walked the space with the hotel team and agreed the key moments to cover, so nothing important was missed. We worked as a compact team, moving quietly and using the room's own light wherever possible to keep the atmosphere natural. We captured the set-up before guests arrived, then the room filling up, the main moments and the details that make each event feel considered. In the edit we cut a short highlight film and social-length clips, graded to match the photographs. The photographs were selected, colour corrected and delivered quickly, while each event was still fresh.
